Geology & Mining and Border Affairs minister, P. Longon, has expressed thanks to those in the government, responsible for the creation of the new Noklak district.
In a press statement, Longon said that he on his own behalf and on the behalf of the Khiamniungan people would like to express their sincere thanks to the NPF led DAN government, all cabinet colleagues and legislators, chief secretary and all head of departments.
The Khiamniungan people are in a rejoicing, jubilant and celebratory mood over the creation of the new Noklak district – effective from December 21, 2017, from within the erstwhile Tuensang district – he said. He contended that its creation will bring more development and inclusiveness amongst the Nagas across India and Myanmar, and with the Act-east policy implemented, it will further boost the socio-economic development of the region.
Further conveying his joy he said “It was a long cherished dream of the Khiamniungan people that has come true and will be recorded in Golden letters in the history of the Khiamniungan people.”
He also mentioned all the prayer groups “who were toiling day and night praying to Almighty God” and all who supported the creation of the district and thanked them all. Noklak is the 12th district of Nagaland and comprises of the erstwhile Noklak sub-division under Tuensang district. It is the latest district to be bifurcated out of Tuensang after Kiphire and Longleng, created in 2004.
