NSCN (I-M) rejects SF claim of links with DNLA

NSCN (I-M) has rejected the claim of security forces that the group was using the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) as a new front for the purpose of extortion in Assam.

NSCN (I-M) through its MIP stated that “Indian security forces had once again indulged in making wild allegations against the NSCN. This is the irony of the situation created by the security forces in the land of ceasefire that has facilitated the ongoing Naga political talks for over two decades.”

NSCN (I-M) asserted that the need to use other organizations for extortion did not arise at all. “We go for legitimate tax collections from different commercial sources and have nothing to do with extortion as interpreted by the security forces,” NSCN (I-M) stated.

Further, the NSCN (I-M) denied the role of “brigadier” Chipemmi Shimrang for his alleged link with DNLA. The NSCN (I-M) stated that “Brig. C. Shimrang has not been around Nagalim since 2016.” Therefore, the NSCN (I-M) stated that it was “highly ridiculous to use his name in the security forces scheme of anti-NSCN propaganda.” NSCN (I-M) stated that security forces gunned down eight cadres of DNLA on May 23, 2021 at Dugudisha in Karbi Anglong, Assam, which it described was “nothing less than pure act of insanity.”

Alleging that eight DNLA cadres were killed in a fake encounter, the NSCN (I-M) has asked the security forces not to drag “NSCN’s name to save its face from their wicked manner of counter-insurgency operations.”
