Addl. DGP (Law & Order), P.F Zeliang, a 1997 batch IPS officer of Nagaland passed away on Thursday afternoon at Dimapur after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife and four children. Various personalities and organizations have expressed their condolences over the loss.
Governor: Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya has expressed grief and shock at the demise of the Late P.F Zeliang.
A condolence message from PRO to Governor, said Acharya observed that Zeliang had served the Government and the people of the State with dedication and his immense contributions will ever be cherished by the people of the State. “Late PF Zeliang’s contributions, sacrifices and service to the people the State will be remembered by all. His demise was a great loss to the state Police department in particular and the people of Nagaland in general” stated the Governor. Acharya further conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty to grant strength and solace to overcome the grief.
CM: Nagaland chief minister (CM), T.R. Zeliang, on behalf of himself and his family conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and offered prayers that God to grant them strength to enable them to bear the sorrow and also for rest for his departed friend.
Zeliang said that late P.F. Zeliang was a good family friend and had virtues that were rare in people these days.
He said late P.F Zeliang was an upright officer and a down to earth, efficient man of principles who followed the law without prejudices and was also a good father.
Calling the departed a pioneer among the Zeliangs and an inspiration, the CM said that the loss will be difficult to fill in the days to come. The condolence note added that P.F. Zeliang joined the service since 1981 and was the ADGP (Adm) and ADGP (L&0) and was to take over the charge of DG (Prison, HG & CD) in the month of February 2018.
Rio: Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio expressed shock at the demise of P.F. Zeliang, IPS, ADGP (Law & Order). Rio described Zeliang as a capable officer who rendered the best years of his life towards the service of the state and added that Nagaland had lost a dedicated officer.
Rio joined by his family conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family with prayers, that God console them and grant the departed soul eternal peace.
Patton: Former Home minister, Y. Patton, MLA on behalf of himself and his family, has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family of the late P.F. Zeliang and offered prayers that God grant them fortitude to bear the loss.
Patton recalled that he had close associations with Zeliang during his stint as Home minister. Patton said he found Zeliang to be reliable and he worked with integrity and without bias and was also one of the major decision makers for the department. While regretting not being able to attend the funeral in person, as he was out of station, Patton added that his untimely demise has created a vacuum which will be difficult to fill.
AZSU-AMN: All Zeliangrong Students’ Union- Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) has conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the Late P.F. Zeliang with prayers for the departed soul to rest in peace. The union described him as an honest and dedicated officer who originally hailed from Peren village.
The condolence note from AZSU-AMN president, Nchaheing also mentioned that Zeliang had served the Zeliangrong student community actively during his student days. His untimely demise has created a vacuum within the Zeliangrong community which would be difficult to fill, the union added.
