Altogether six persons have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl in Mon district on June 20.
According to Mon additional SP and PRO, Longpoksong Lemtur, the incident happened when the minor girl along with another 14-year-old girl fell victim to a group of six youngsters at a place located above Tapi bridge in the district.
PRO sad that on receipt of information, the police immediately conducted search operations and arrested two accused the next day, adding that the remaining four accused were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday. In this connection, a case has been registered (no.004/21 U/S 376/354/34 1PC read with section 4/8 POCSO Act) was registered and investigation was under progress.
LCU condemns: Langmeing Citizen Union (LCU) presidnet Y. Shahang Konyak and asst. general secretary M. Shahmi Konyka have condemned the June 20 sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor girl.
LCU alleged that six persons allegedly gang-raped, attempted to murder and left the victim by the roadside without any clothes, leaving the her unconscious, traumatized and also physical wounded.
LCU appealed to the concern authority to arrest all the culprits and give befitting punishment as per the law.
Claiming that all the culprits were above 20 years of age, LCU said that they should not be booked under Juvenile Justice Act.
LCU warned that it will be compelled to take law into their own hands if justice was delayed and that if the culprits were granted bail or fabricate/manipulate their age, adding that the government and the law enforcement agency will be held responsible for any untoward incident.
