Urges power deptt and public to come to an understanding over land issue
DPDB chairman & minister of PWD (housing & mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum, Wednesday, visited Mokokchung Power House (Mokokchung Power Division) and interacted with the officials and stakeholders with regard to the land issue on constructing the 2X10MVA 33/11 kV S/S at Mokokchung Town Power House under North East Region Powere System Impowerment Project (NERSIP).
Tongpang stated that this particular project was funded by the Government of India and the World Bank, which has been completed in most of the districts in Nagaland.
He said that the project may lapse, if not for the COVID-19 grace period and that the project could not be implemented in time due to the land issues.
Therefore, the minister on behalf of the DPDB and the people fervently appealed upon the land owners and the responsible department to come to an understanding and resolve the matter at the earliest and start the work. Later, the minister and his entourage visited the site of a stationed transformer, which would be enhanced to entirely feed Ungma village and its surrounding areas, of which he instructed the department to sensitise the villagers, about the technicalities and benefits.
While visiting the Mokokchung Municipal dumping site at Mokokchung village jurisdiction, Tongpang appealed to the land owners (Atsongchanger & Longkumer clans) to willingly sell the presently leased land for future welfare and benefit of Mokokchung town. He urged upon the department to be sincerely responsible to initiate a hazard free environmental dump site once the land matters were resolved amicably.
The minister was accompanied by frontals of the Mokokchung Regional, Independent Party and members of the All Ward Union Mokokchung (AWUM).
