Fire destroys house in Mangkolemba

In a delayed report, a house was completely gutted by fire at Saringyim village under Mangkolemba sub-division in Mokokchung district, Friday evening.

The house belonging to one Konang Walling, ex-chairman of Saring village was reportedly razed by the fire when the owner and his wife were at their farm.

According to preliminary reports, the fire was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.

Witnesses disclosed that the fire broke out from the kitchen and rapidly spread to the rest of the house, which led to the explosion of three LPG cylinders.

Although no possessions could be salvaged from the house, villagers collectively doused the fire and prevented it from spreading to the nearby houses.

Owner of the house disclosed that properties worth an estimated Rs. 40 lakh along with important documents and cash were reduced to ashes.

No casualties have been reported so far.
