Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has been observing a week long “National Consumer Day” from December 18-24.
In a press release issued by press and media cell NVCO, stated that president NVCO, Kezhokhoto Savi sincerely appealed to all service providers to honour the rights of the consumer.
It stated that every year, December 24 has been observed as “National Consumer Day” in the country. On December 18, NVCO team went out to LPG counter in Kohima town to ascertain as to how the consumers were treated wherein NVCO commented that it was very sad to see consumers mostly mothers were already in the queue since 3 a.m. In this regard, NVCO questioned the district administration the reason behind it and how to solve LPG supply problem. NVCO further questioned the district administration whether it was because of shortage or black marketing.
NVCO appealed the concern authority to take action before December 24 as a gift to the consumers to celebrate the national consumer day. NVCO would be marking the 7th year of running Nagaland State Consumer Helpline with toll free number: 1800 – 345 – 3701 on December 24, which was launched as central project on December 24, 2011, coinciding with National Consumer Day.
The NVCO also urged the courier service counter to deliver any parcel or letter to door delivery as payment were made for that, failing which it would amount to exploitation of consumers right.
