A combined team of district administration and medical department, Kiphire carried out sensitisation drive on Covid vaccine under Kiphire district on June 27.
The team covered Phelungre village, Purrur village, Anatongre village, Singrep village, and Kiphire village.
In a press release, district media officer, Kiphire informed that at Phelungre village, DC Kiphire, Rahul Mali and district immunisation officer, Dr. K Pewezo Khalo sensitised the village leaders and villagers at Phelungre Baptish Church.
Rahul Mali reminded the gathering about the status of COVID-19 in the district and informed that if any village achieved 100 percent vaccination, churches and schools would be allowed to resume with full capacity.
Stating that other advanced countries were taking the same vaccine as in Kiphire, he urged everyone to come forward and receive the vaccine without any scepticism. He refuted rumours doing rounds about the vaccine and asserted the vaccine was developed only to fight against the disease.
Dr. K Pewezo Khalo sensitised the leaders about the vaccine and on the importance of preventing Coronavirus for which taking the vaccine was the only solution.
Warning the gathering about the imminent third wave of COVID-19, he underscored the importance of taking the vaccine, without which Coronavirus would continue to spread.
Emphasising the vaccine was introduced after numerous experiments and after substantiating the efficacy of the vaccine, he called upon the villagers to outweigh the benefits of vaccine over rumours.
He challenged the village leaders to set good examples in order to protect the village from the disease and accept the vaccine without any hesitation.
Similar messages about the vaccine were disseminated in all the villages that the teams covered.
On June 28, a special vaccination drive was also carried out at Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC) for college faculty, students and residents of the surrounding area. Prior to the vaccination session, a short programme was conducted, during which the principal, Dr. PC Mishra and DIO, Dr. K Pewezo Khalo sensitised the gathering about the benefits of the vaccine.
A sensitisation program and vaccination drive was carried out at Pungro town on June 28, under the initiative of ADC Pungro, Abhinav Shivam.
The ADC said that under the initiative of administration, medical team and with the cooperation from the ward chairmen and public leaders, doubts and apprehension of the people spread on social media could be addressed.
A sensitisation programme followed by a vaccination drive. Shivam said that after Pungro town, they would be targeting the villages for vaccination.
During the drive, a total of 205 beneficiaries availed the vaccine. The ADC lauded former YTC Chairman, Shelimthong; YTC, executive chairman, Makhezo; PPF, Khongsu; second head GB Shehoto; mission ward chairman, Shojiba and all the ward chairmen of Pungro town for their constant support during the vaccination drive.
ADC Pfutsero in a circular informed the public of Pfutsero town that the block task force on COVID-19, Pfutsero would be organising a special vaccination drive on July 4 at Pfutsero town sports complex from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Therefore, all interested persons have been encouraged to avail the opportunity.
Special drive on random sampling at Longleng: Longleng DTF conducted a special drive on random sampling covering all villages under EAC Sakshi Circle on June 27.
The exercise was conducted by four teams headed by DC, Longleng, M Shayung Phom, senior superintendent of police, Longleng, Yanithung Ezung, ADC Longleng, D. Robin and SDO (C) Longleng Trongdiba Tongpi T. Sangram along with officers from district administration, police, VG and medical department with the objective to analyse the positivity rate in the rural areas. A total of 174 samples were tested by the teams.
Vaccine sensitisation and vaccination drive at Sangpur and Yakor villages: CHC, Shamator led by medical officer, Shamator, Dr. Mhathung organised a Covid vaccine sensitisation and vaccination drive at Sangpur and Yakor village, Tuensang on June 27.
Dr. Mhathung briefed the public on the importance of taking vaccines and also how to prevent by maintaining proper SOP such as avoiding crowd and frequent house to house visit etc. The vaccination drive saw positive response from the people.
