Seven villages under Longleng–Changtongya two-lane road project have expressed displeasure at the NHIDCL for its failure to fulfil an agreement to compensate major destruction to properties and land caused during execution of the road works by the Nitin Sai and KCPL company.
In a press release, Atok M Phom, S Nungsang Phom and Hampom Phom stated that the seven villages unanimously resolved to indefinitely halt road works on NH-702 under Longleng jurisdiction with effect from July 1, till the compensation for property damage was made. They claimed that the project undertaken by the company had caused major destruction to properties.
Since compensation was to be made NHIDCL, they said the public had fully co-operated with the survey team initiated by the administrative agency along with the responsible company. However, they asserted that the authority has failed to respond to all the appeals made the landowners and meet all deadlines served so far.
