Association of 41 Clubs of India, in association with Round Table India (RTI), donated 50 beds to District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, health & welfare minister S Pangyu Phom said he was very much encouraged to see so many NGOs, churches and individuals coming forward to assist and help the State government through various means.
Acknowledging the noble gesture, he said he was overwhelmed to see the work of RTI, maintaining that the organisation did a commendable job under the project “One more breath” by providing medical equipment in bulk.
He appreciated the organisation for its efforts to improve the health sector and shouldering the responsibility with the State in these tough times together. “The assistance we received today will tremendously help the needy people,” he contended.
He requested DHD authorities to make roper use of the equipment and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
Phom asserted that the State government was battling Covid-19 with all its efforts and assured to continue the same for the safety of the citizens.
He acknowledged that the government faced numerous allegations and criticisms, which were both “constructive and destructive”. He, however, added that all this failed to discourage the government and instead strengthened its resolve to shield the people from the pandemic.
Addressing the gathering, Naveen Kejriwal of Association of 41 Clubs of India or 41 India and RTI said “One more breath” was a dream project, approved and rolled out in a short span of time.
He hoped the project would help the people of Dimapur and serve humanity. “Blessed are the ones who get an opportunity to bring smiles and harmonies in other lives,” he remarked.
Speaking about RTI, Kejriwal explained that it was a youngsters’ organisation with a vision of having likeminded people’s organisation in the age group 18-40 years. He added that those who retired from RTI became a part of 41 India.
He claimed that both the organisations worked for the welfare of society.
In his speech, project coordinator Ashok Agarwal said 41 Club India and RTI aimed to provide 3,000 beds in hospitals across India, along with oxygen concentrators and other equipments and accessories.
Dimapur deputy commissioner (DC) Rajesh Soundararajan, who is also the president of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Dimapur, also delivered a short speech.
In his speech, he informed members of 41 Club India and RTI that Dimapur was the worst-affected district in the State, adding that 60% of the State’s total Covid-19 cases were from the district and also the maximum numbers of deaths and hospital admissions.
He acknowledged the noble deeds carried out under project “One more breath”, mentioning that the beds would help augment the hospital’s capacity and help citizens of Dimapur in a great manner.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by A Rahman, while invocation offered by chaplain Rev Yhunglo Thong.
Felicitation and welcome address was delivered by IRCS Dimapur chairman Chandu Agarwal, while words of gratitude were delivered by IRCS Dimapur honorary secretary KK Paul and vote of thanks by DHD medical superintendent Dr K Metha.
