SMSA stops inter-state sand supply

Sand Mahaldars’ and Suppliers’ Association (SMSA), the conglomerate of sand lessees of Karbi Anglong district, has decided to stop all inter-State supply of sand from July 1 till further notice.

Informing this to Nagaland Post, association’s general secretary Roton Timung said the decision was taken at SMSA’s general meeting held its head office at Manja, around 16 km from here, on June 29 due to prevailing “low rate” and for “other technical rectification”.

As cost of all other commodities had increased, he said sand mahaldars (lessees) could no longer operate with the fluctuating cost of sand. As such, he added that the association decided to stop inter-State delivery of sand and requested all stakeholders to cooperate with the decision.
