USSC celebrates 70th general conference

Second day of the ongoing United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) 70th general conference held under the theme “Enriching education with our rich cultural heritage” was graced by minister for power, C. Kipili Sangtam at Tsithrongse, Sangtamtilla and Murise village, Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion in place of chief minister, T.R. Zeliang, who could not attend the occasion, Kipili Sangtam advised the students to be more economical in utilizing their parent’s resources. He also asked them to be more resourceful to the community and the society. 
On Naga political issue, Sangtam said the state government has asked government of India that Nagas want “solution before election”.
Delivering a presidential address, USSC, Thrikyuse Sangtam, urged upon the students to be mentally strong to face the tough world. He also asserted that Sangtam students have been rapidly improving in education and in other fields.
In his message, T.R.Zeliang conveyed is greetings on the occasion and expressed regret for not attending the conference due to unavoidable circumstances. 
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel and 
Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) president, Sepili Sangtam also spoke in the conference.
The conference was compeered by Thsadila and assistant professor ZPC, Chemdiba, while God’s blessing was invoked by associate pastor women, SBL Dimapur, Lipisela K.
Highlights of the programme included prelude by Atsaba Rothrong, melody by Tsapila Anar, special song by Sangtam Students’ Union Tuensang (SSUT) town and cultural display by dancing troupes by Singrep village Kiphire town, Seyochung village, Tsadang village and Diphuphar Atparu mulong. 
It may be mentioned that the conference was inaugurated on December 14 and seminar and discussion was held on December 15.
Resource persons – S.E PHED Dimapur circle, Er.Athriba Sangtam spoke on the topic “enriching education with our cultural heritage”, joint secretary, higher technical Kohima, John Tsilise spoke on “ role if student’s community for a better tomorrow”, legal advisor USLP, L.T.Sangtam spoke on “present scenario of Sangtam and the task for a better future”. 
A panel discussion on “backward quota policy and its implementation” was also held.  The conference will culminate on December 17.
