Safe earth ride: Bikers rally for clean environment

RE Brothers under the aegis of Biking Society of India (BCI) organised “safe earth ride” where 150 tree saplings were planted at new Naga cemetery, Zani village and state stadium, here, on August 7.

Addressing the gathering, additional deputy commissioner (ADC), H Atokhe Aye, acknowledged RE brothers for organising the plantation drive.

In this regard, the ADC said that many talked about environmental issues, ecological imbalance, global warming, etc., but very few did the necessary to maintain a healthy environment.

He added that huge number of riders turning up for the plantation drive showed how one was concerned about the environment and hoped that this drive would be a challenge for all.

Meanwhile, RE Brothers general secretary, Ardo Pfukha informed that the plantation drive was an annual event, however due to the pandemic, the drive was not held last year.

He disclosed that the plantation drive was organised to conserve and preserve the environment. “Today is the day we contribute something back to the society”, he asserted.

State coordinator, BCI and former GS RE Brothers, Abhijeet Bharadwaj hosted the programme and read out the slogan “let us unite and heal the damage that we have caused”.

It may be mentioned that around 160 riders participated in the plantation drive.
