AIFFSO observes ‘Quit India Movement’ anniversary

All India Freedom Fighters Successors’ Organization (AIFFSO), Nagaland State Unit, observed the 79th anniversary of Quit India Movement along with the rest of the country at its office, PR Hill, here, on Monday.

While chairing the programme, state unit president, Zeliezhü Angami said the organisation had been observing the day ever since its formation.
Highlighting about the day, Zeliezhü said the movement was launched by father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi on August 8, 1942, at Mumbai, erstwhile Bombay, demanding an end to British rule in India.
He said this year owing to the pandemic, many of the members could not turn up, however, the anniversary was held with those members who attended the programme.
He expressed dismay over the state government for failing to look after the members of the organisation although the centre had given various directives to the states to look after their respective freedom fighters’ successors.
A short prayer was offered by vice president, Kikrovi Sakhrie, during the programme.
The gathered members also observed a two minute silence as tribute to the freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the country.
Members of the organisation informed that they plan to organise the anniversary in a bigger manner in the future when the pandemic situation subsides.
