Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: Activities and information

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav), various departments in the state are organising events and conducting activities for a resurgent “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. 

Nagaland police to organise national flag rally race: Police headquarters (PHQ) has informed that it would be organising a national flag rally race as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration on August 14.

According to a DIPR report, the rally race would begin at 6 a.m., from secretariat plaza and culminate near PHQ, Kohima. The rally race would be followed by a celebratory programme at PHQ main lobby.

The celebratory programme would be held at PHQ main lobby, 8 a.m.

Plantation drive, sales day organised in Wokha: To commemorate the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and as per the HoDs meeting held on August 5 to chalk out work distribution for the Independence Day celebration, events/programmes such a plantation drive by department of forest, essays & painting competition by SDEO, PM SVANIDHI camp with self-help groups (SHGs) and street vendors by AUDO, sales of agri products involving the SHGs by DRDA and sale of farm products (citronella oil) by general manager, DICX, Wokha would be organised.

AUDO informed that the motive behind organising this event was aimed at making proper survey of street vendors, to register their names and to give them vending certificates and issue ID cards.

It also informed that under PM SVANIDHI scheme, once street vendors names are registered under this scheme, the vendors could avail loan up to 10, 000 for their sustainability.

Around 30 street vendors were registered under PM SVANIDHI scheme on August 10.

Meanwhile, August 9, tree plantation drive was organised at new deputy commissioner’s office complex. The plantation drive was led by deputy ranger, I/C, Wokha, P. Janbemo Ezung where more than 150 different varieties of trees were planted.

AIR Kohima to organise quiz: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Regional News Unit (RNU), AIR Kohima informed that it would be organising a quiz programme titled “India@75 Quiz with AIR News” to keep the citizens informed and to create awareness about the aspects of India’s journey over the past 75 years.  

According to a DIPR report, regional news unit AIR Kohima would ask a common question in the regional news bulletin (Nagamese & English) at 7:10 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. respectively. The quiz would be held every Thursday once in a week till August 15 or beyond to space the quiz programme into 75 episodes. 

The quiz would begin from August 12 and the first correct reply received through email will be adjudged the winner of the quiz. Participants have been requested to send their answers at airnewskohimaindia75@gmail.com. The winner would be announced the next day at the morning news bulletin at 7:25 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. respectively.  

Special vaccination camp to be held in Noklak: SDO (C) Noklak, C. Phuniang has informed that a special vaccination camp would be held in Noklak town in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on August 12, 10 a.m., at the following locations: Sub Center High School-B for the sectors of High School -A, High school-B and Koungao; Anganwadi Center of Punyaongan for the sectors of Punyaongan, Khaokhan and Danlepdond; Government Middle School, Penshe for the sectors of Penshe and Leng, and CHS, Noklak for the sectors of Medical, Pengan and Kiamngan.

Beneficiaries have been requested to come with a valid ID card viz. Aadhaar card/ epic-voters ID/passport/driving licence/Pan card/NPR smart card/pension documents with photographs. All 18 years and above would be eligible for vaccination.

NSRLM Dmu distributes morpho devices: In commemoration of 75 years of Indian Independence, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Rural development department Dimapur Tuesday organised training cum distribution of morpho device at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur.

According to DIPR report, speaking as the special guest, ADC Dimapur Atokhe Aye lauded the Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Dimapur for their sincerity and hard work. 

He also lauded the banks for continuous support and requested them to further elevate the SHGs through their constant cooperation and intervention. He then handed over the morpho devices to 13 beneficiaries.

Project director, DRDA Dimapur, Kethosituo Sekhose, in his brief address, advised the beneficiaries to master the art of handling the device properly before using it for any transaction. 

He further sought ideas from the beneficiaries so that the department could extent support in the best interest of the rural community.

He also asked the line departments utilising direct bank transfer to study the feasibility of converging the digi pay which is being introduced in Nagaland.

Officials from the banks and others also spoke on the occasion.

ADPM, DMMU, NSRLM, M. Yimok Phom delivered the welcome note while DC- FI, DMMU, NSRLM, Y. Agnes Ezung said the vote of thanks and AC- BMMU Kuhuboto, NSRLM, Zgevi Achumi chaired the programme.
