CVC on preservation & protection of ‘heritage village’

Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) has issued three-point guidelines in an effort to preserve and protect the “old heritage village” and in pursuance of its standing resolution on complete ban of hunting and other activities that could deplete the flora and fauna under its jurisdiction.

In a press release, CVC GB Khriezo Shüya and joint secretary, Sedevikho Tsükru has informed the public that “old Chümoukedima heritage village is a historical site holding both traditional and sentimental values to the Chümoukedima natives” and that the standing resolution encompass the old heritage villages jurisdiction.

CVC has further issued the following directives for strict compliance by visitors – the council has asked all visitors of the heritage village primarily the viewpoints to refrain from disposing plastic waste at the sites randomly. CVC has appealed that the plastic wastes/ non degradable wastes be carried back by visitors and disposed off at available waste bins.

The council has cautioned vandalism and defacement of monuments and public utilities by anti-social people and warned that vandals or anti-social elements henceforth caught in such acts would be sternly dealt with imposition of “heavy fines” as per customary law.

CVC has also reiterated its standing resolution on ban of hunting, fodder collection, gathering of firewood, bamboos or other wild resources at the old village site. The council warned that defaulters would be penalized upto Rs. 1 lakh depending on the severity of the damage.
