ASTD response on NCD issue

Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has reacted to statements by “certain local Tribal Hohos” and dragging its name in the print media over the dispute in Naga Council Dimapur (NCD).

In a press note, ASTD president Meren Nokpu and secretary P Sashi Longchar  made it clear that ASTD  has no obligation towards “so claimed DTHF”, and that it (ASTD)  stood “opposed to continuation of other organizations as the DTHF which runs counter to the NCD.”

The two said ASTD is among the founding members of NCD way back in 1949 and have stood for smooth functioning of NCD.

They also clarified that two earlier nominees to NCD were withdrawn when, instead of taking oath as new members, they filed a suit in Civil Court against NCD along with some others in 2020 without ASTD’s knowledge. ASTD said that the two representatives were therefore recalled for dragging NCD to Court.
