LRD inaugurates coffee café at Wokha town

Land Resources Department (LRD)’s “Coffee Natural Nagas Café” was inaugurated Tuesday at Wokha town by LRD director, Renben Lotha.

According to DIPR report, in his speech, Lotha said the department in collaboration with Coffee Board of India are technically supporting and supervising coffee farmers in Nagaland to promote coffee farming.

He said the department follows three Es – employment, environment and economy as part of its vision to promote coffee culture in the state.

Lotha said the department has signed MoU with Noble Cause Coffee Company Cape Town South Africa for 30 years. He then claimed that Nagaland produces “high quality coffee” in comparison to normal coffee available in the market.

He also encouraged coffee farmers to put more effort not only in plantation but also in developing coffee drinking culture. He then said coffee plantation can be a part of “nation building income generation”.

In his speech, deputy director, LRD C. Vanchamo said majority of Nagaland geographic is micro climate condition which make it suitable for coffee plantation. 

The programme was attended by department officials from the directorate and other dignitaries.
