
Noklak district task force (DTF) on COVID-19 held a review meeting with the district nodal officers for COVID-19, additional secretary, horticulture, Zarenthung Ezung and joint director, H&FW Dr. Thanghoi Lam was held on August 19 at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) Noklak.
According to a DIPR report, additional secretary, horticulture Zarenthung Ezung informed that the state had already faced two waves of the pandemic and the third wave was now expected for which he said they need to be prepared.
He urged the house to ramp up COVID-19 testing and vaccination in the district and requested healthcare workers to continue their efforts in fighting the pandemic. Zarenthung said though there was a lack of infrastructure in the district, if the people took enough precautions, got vaccinated and followed SOPs, then the third wave could be prevented.
Meanwhile, joint director, directorate of health & family welfare (H&FW), Dr. Thanghoi Lam updated the overall scenario of the pandemic and advised on how to manage the ongoing crisis. He urged DTF to make use of the BSL lab 2 which was installed in Tuensang. Dr. Lam also talked on contact tracing, vaccination and other logistics necessities for the district.
On vaccination, Dr. Thanghoi Lam elaborated on awareness campaign on vaccination and advised them to rectify the rumours that spread on social media.
While chairing the meeting, DC Noklak Hiazu Meru welcomed the team from Kohima and briefed on the preparedness on COVID-19 and also highlighted the steps taken in managing the pandemic in the district.
The meeting was attended by DTF members, HoDs, civil organisations and religious leaders.
