Diesel price cut, no change in petrol

State-owned oil marketing companies reduced the price of diesel for the third consecutive day, but left the petrol price unchanged.

According to a price notification, diesel was reduced by 20 paise per litre bringing down the price to Rs 89.27 per litre in the national capital.

After Friday’s rate revision, diesel prices in Dimapur and Kohima decreased to Rs. 91.33 per litre and Rs.92.10 per litre respectively.

Global crude oil prices continued to decline. The October contract of Brent crude oil on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) was trading at $66.72 per barrel, reports IANS.

The fall in global oil prices should have resulted in around Rs 2 per litre reduction on retail rates of fuel. However, OMCs still want to see market movements before making further cuts.
