Annual general body meeting of the Nagaland College Principals Forum (NCPF) was held on December 8 at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama with the attendance of Nagaland University vice chancellor, Professor P. Lal as chief guest.
In his address, Prof. P. Lal said that “it is a compulsion”n for the Universities and colleges to contribute in shaping the young minds for uplifting the country. He also stressed on the need for the colleges to keep track of the changes to keep the young people ignited, particularly in the technological front. Professor Lal also expressed that the colleges should take up oriented courses, and suggested Choice Based Credit Course in all colleges and also briefed on SWAYAMPRABHA programme. Maintaining that improvement of colleges is the highest responsibility of a University, the vice chancellor assured that he will try his best to see the standards were raised higher. Kohima College principal and president, NCPF, Dr. Watijungshi in his welcome address informed that 2016-17 annual report showed a record of 50 registered private colleges and 15 government colleges. He lauded the University for recognizing the need of the present institutions and the contributions to uplift the standard of the colleges in the State.
Principal St. Joseph’s College, Rev. Dr. Father Sebastian who was the host of the occasion, also stressed on catching up with globalisation, privatization and liberalization. In this regard, he said students were a big asset to the society, and therefore colleges should produce employable graduates. St. Joseph College, Jakhama vice principal, Dr. S. R. Kaisa offered a special prayer on the occasion while welcome address was delivered by Dr. Fr. Sebastian. A special song and Rengma cultural dance were performed by the students of St. Joseph College, Jakhama.
