Reiterating the decision of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Kohima banning private vehicles plying as commercial taxis, the Nagaland Two Wheelers Taxi Association (NTWTA) has objected and “prohibited” private-owned two wheelers “illegally” plying as commercial taxis within Kohima district.
In a statement, NTWTA Kohima (HQ) cautioned the private individuals against carrying passengers on the pretext of commercial taxis, adding that any person caught during inspection would be subject to legal action and stringent penalty.
The association has also requested its units in other districts to comply with the direction and maintain sanctity of two-wheeler taxis legitimately.
Further, NTWTA urged the public to travel only in vehicles with yellow number plates as authorized by the regional transport office. NTWTA asserted that the association would bear no responsibility for the loss of valuables or other “uncalled events” that could arise while travelling in a private two-wheeler taxi.
