
Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) Peren, conducted the valedictory programme of its 132nd batch for bamboo & cane craft making at its premises at Jalukie on August 21.
In a press release, RSETI Peren informed that the programme was graced by BM, SBI Jalukie, S Sarma, Lt. Col. M K Konyak, 2IC, 36 AR Jalukie and village chairman, Mhainamtsi, Ziudi.
In his welcome address, director RSETI Peren, Novin Basumatary acknowledged rank and files of Assam Rifles, Jalukie battalion, for mobilising rural unemployed youths to avail free residential training facilities provided by RSETI and hoped that other responsible organisations would do the same.
He spoke on how the institute, since 2011 had been providing skill-based training to rural youth of the state to improve livelihood through self-employment ventures or wage employment.
It may be mentioned that the RSETI Peren is an initiative of the government of India, funded by MoRD and SBI, which provides skill-based training with food and lodging.
Altogether 28 rural youth participated in the 13-day programme which began on August 9, providing step by step training on making of bamboo sofa set and other furniture using bamboo.
