Education department organised a seminar on “awareness on mental health” on December 6 at Alder College, Kohima with senior medical officer State Mental Institute Kohima, Dr. Viketoulie Pienyü as resource person.
Speaking at the seminar, Viketoulie pointed out the realities about young people facing lot of stress by making a comparison with the old and modern days. He said modern life stress was due to social, peer, parents and authority pressure.
Topics on different types of stress to manage mental health issues and few suggestions to the teachers with regard to mental health development were also highlighted by the resource person.
The programme was chaired by second semester student, Atile Seb, keynote address was delivered by HOD department of Education, Dr. Akala Longkumer, vote of thanks by 6th semester student, Thejakhrielie Rio, while rapporteur of the seminar was assistant professor department of Education, Medotsino Thorie.
