On account of the country’s 75th Independence Day on August 15 and consequent to the proposal submitted by director general (prisons), the home department said governor RN Ravi granted remission to 46 convicted prisoners.
These include 15 prisoners from Dimapur Central Jail, six from Dimapur District Jail, seven from Mokokchung District Jail, four from Tuensang District Jail, 12 from Mon District Jail and two from Zunheboto District Jail.
The remission order took effect from August 15. This was stated in a DIPR release.
