Seized tobacco products destroyed in Wka

In an effort to strengthen Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 section 4 and 6, an enforcement drive around Wokha Town was carried out on August 26, where 19 people were penalised and tobacco products seized near educational institutions were destroyed.

In a press release, chief medical officer (CMO) Wokha office informed that the drive was carried out by Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (COTPA) flying squad, National Tobacco Control Programme Wokha, Dobashi, police personnel, Wokha Circle Students’ Union and District Tobacco Control Programme (DTCC) members.

The release informed that the defaulters were warned that if they did not comply with the COTPA Act, legal action would be taken in accordance with the law.
