KVK Tuensang, Kohima organise training programmes for farmers

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tuensang and KVK Kohima organised different programmes on food and nutrition for the farmers on August 26.

KVK Tuensang: KVK Tuensang joined a virtual national campaign on food and nutrition for farmers wherein minister of agriculture & farmers welfare Narendra Singh Tomar addressed the participants and released a book.

A press release by KVK Tuensang stated that an offline event was also organised at the KVK office complex where farmers were brified on the importance of food and nutrition, enhancement of income through seed production and entrepreneurship development by ACTOs Dr. Martina Shitiri and Longma Yanger.

The participants also visited the vermicompost unit, low cost hydrophonics unit and winter vegetable nursery bed where the importance of each unit was highlighted by technical officer, Seveto Nyekha. Farmers and youths from Kuthur village under Tuensang district attended the programme.

KVK Kohima: KVK Kohima celebrated “azadi ka amrit Mahotsav” under the theme, “food and nutrition for farmers” by organising a training.

A press release by KVK stated that the resource persons for the training ACTO (horticulture) Khekali Sema and ACTO (soil science) Zhiete spoke on “package of practices for garden pea and tomato and biofertilizers” under agriculture while ACTO (animal science) Dr.Temjennungsang spoke “rabbit farming” under animal husbandry. 

The keynote address was delivered by senior scientist and head, Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu; the programme was chaired by Khekali Sema and vote of thanks was delivered by technical officer, Dr. Sesenlo Kath. 

Around 30 farmers from New Tesophenyu, Chunlikha, Tesophenyu and Tseminyu participated in the programme.
