WSSU, NACF dismayed over poor road condition

Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) and Niuland Area Citizen Forum (NACF) have expressed dismay over the deplorable road condition leading to Niuland sub-division.

In a joint letter addressed to the chief engineer, department of road & bridges, WSSU president A. Kughato Achumi and NACF president Kakishe Shikhu stated that in-spite of repeated appeals from various organisations, unions and committees, the department turned a deaf ear to the pleas.

They said that the road from 4th mile junction to Niuland sub-division had become “disastrous” and vehicles were finding it difficult to ply. “The social and economic life of the citizens settled around are badly effected in every aspect as the road served a life line”, the bodies stated.

WSSU and NACF have, therefore, requested the responsible authority to repair the road (black topping) at the earliest, failing which, the bodies stated they would have “no other option than to resort democratically” to fulfil their demand.
