State BJP Mahila Morcha clarifies to statements

BJP Mahila Morcha Nagaland unit has clarified that the picture of Mahila Morcha national secretary Aienla Jamir with agarbattis (incense sticks) was in Bokajan, Assam, where she was invited for the morcha’s executive meeting as locals paid respect to party’s founding members as per their custom.

Reacting to recent statements issued by various organisations and subsequent opinions from different quarters, BJP Mahila Morcha State unit in a press release pointed out that Aienla Jamir was a national leader of the party and, by virtue of the post she held, is invited to many meetings, events and functions both within and outside Nagaland. BJP MM said as a leader, Aienla was expected to show respect to all faith and cultures of the places she was invited to. BJP MM said this was because religious tolerance and respect for all communities and faith is expected from all, especially in a secular and democratic country.

“As a political party in our State, when our Central leaders come, we organise programmes according to our faith and culture and everyone participates in them,” BJP MM added.

Admitting that human rights violation was condemnable and that it also expressed concern over Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, the women wing of BJP reasoned that Raksha Bandhan event at no point supported this Act.

A political party had people of all communities and faith andwhen events were organised to which party leaders were invited, the individuals whose names had been mentioned in some statements participated in them, the release explained.

BJP MM also thanked those who expressed their concern over these recent events and assured that it would continue to strive and maintain the standards prescribed and expected by all.
