LSU demands relocation of signal tower at Wokha town

Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has appealed to the responsible authority to relocate the signal tower of Assam Rifles installed at Ganga Post Wokha, which was earlier a base camp of Assam Rifles, for developmental activities in the district.

In a press release, LSU president Ashanthung Humtsoe and general secretary Pithungo Shitio stated that the land was now under the authority of the state government and was all set to construct a “mini secretariat” building for government offices in the district.

It also said that the state government was “all set to start various development activities at the proposed area.”

LSU maintained that it was a “long-cherished dream” of the community to have access to visit district government offices in one demarcated infrastructure building.

In this regard, LSU requested the responsible authority to “immediately vacate the land and give the right of way” for developmental activities in the interest of the Lotha community as the land now belonged to the state government.
