61st anniv of ‘Pochury Black Day’ in Phek

Pochury Students’ Union along with Pochury frontal organisations observed the 61st anniversary of Pochury Black Day at Matikhrü village under Phek district.

In his presidential address, Pochury Students’ Union president Miiphatho Nyuthe stated that Matikhrü massacre should be acknowledged by every Nagas since it was a supreme sacrifice done in the history of Naga cause.

He said that Naga society was fragmented and therefore, called upon every Naga to come as one as without it, “our struggle for freedom will turn futile” and would barely implant hope in the hearts of every individual for the Naga solution. 

Living witness Resipa and Rev. Zhihuotho also addressed the gathering and shared their experiences. 

Solidarity messages were also delivered by Pochury Hoho president, Chonpa Jurry and Pochury Mothers’ Association president, Tsiirhotshii. 

Earlier, the programme was led by Matikhrü Students’ Union advisor Nguchuvi, Matikhrü Baptist Church pastor Rhovitho invoked God’s presence while welcome address was delivered by Matikhrü head GB Kuorho Pojar. 

Vote of thanks was delivered by Pochury Students’ Union assembly speaker, Jakob Thuu, benediction was said by Matikhrü Baptist Church head deacon, Tosietho Katiry followed by laying of wreaths by the officials.
