
Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Satakha Block, organised a field day on “ecological restoration for protection and conservation of natural resources” to help tackle climate change, on August 5, at Shena New Village.
The block also conducted two trainings and three demonstration programmes on August 6 and 7, at Shena old and Usutomi village.
In a press release, Satakha block informed that training on soil and water conservation engineering for climate smart agriculture and demonstration on rain water harvesting for natural pond, rain and stream water harvesting for TRC and watering technique for tree plantation was conducted at Shena old village on August 6.
A training on soil and water conservation engineering for climate smart agriculture and demonstration on rain water harvesting for natural pond, rain and stream water harvesting for TRC, watering technique for tree plantation, contour trenching, contour bunds and staggered contour trenches, was conducted at Usutomi Village on August 7.
Resources persons for the training/demonstration programme were BTM, L Chichamoshitini, ATM, X Kuto Kinimi and ATM, Tovi V Jimomi.
During the training programmes, the resource persons gave brief explanations through audio and visual display with demonstration and stressed on benefits, positive effect to its wider impact on agricultural and environment as a whole.
ATMA Satakha block informed that the main aim of the programme was to encourage farmers community to plant more trees and less deforestation, practice farming in sustainable way, stop river and stream pollution, protect soil and water degradation and restore soil, water, land, forest, river, stream and protected wild life to maintain proper momentum in the environment.
A farm school was also inaugurated on August 7 at Usutomi Village where Kashiho was appointed as the farm school teacher. Altogether, 85 farmers attended the programmes.
