Expressing concern over the drought-like situation, Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) has urged the responsible department to depute a team of officials to assess the situation.
In a press release, RALH chairman CS Ovung and secretary LM Kikon said that 12 villages in the area which are located in the plain section were entirely dependent on paddy harvest for its survival besides educational expenses of their children.
RALH asked the department that due compensation be given to all affected families since “not a single family could cultivate paddies or other essential food crops” due to scanty monsoon rain this year. It has, therefore, appealed to the responsible department that modern agricultural related infrastructure and technology be provided at the affected areas.
