Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has resolved to launch phase-wise agitation starting September 13, 2021in the event if the state government failed to give positive response by September 12, 2021.

In a press release, NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir, general secretary W Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe stated that first phase of agitation would be confined to Dimapur.

Also, in the first phase, NFHRCC said the office of the PWD(R&B) Dimapur division would be shut down and restrict movement of all government vehicles.

The committee said that the resolution was unanimously adopted during the consultative meeting of Dimapur-based tribal hohos, CNSA, DENSU, ZLSU and various youth fronts, which was held at its base office Dimapur on September 7, 2021.

Further, the house has resolved to form “Young Naga Action Committee for Foothills Road”—a core group—comprising of Central Naga Students’ Association (CNSA) as convenor and Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union (DENSU), Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU), Lotha Youth Organisation (LYO), Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) and Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) as co-convenors.

NFHRCC, which had on August 7, 2021 served a 30-day deadline on the state government to positively respond to its plea of making the foot hill road pliable “while waiting for the proposed mega project”, recently extended the deadline till September 12, 2020.
