SASRD: NU commemorates agriculture education day

To commemorate Agriculture Education Day SASRD, Nagaland University, Medziphema campus conducted lecture by Dr. L. T. Longkumer, associate professor of Agronomy on the topic Indian Agriculture.
A press release by SASRD NU Medziphema assoc. prof Dr. J. Longkumer stated that Dr. L. T. Longkumer expounded on the key role of agriculture in development through the resources available in the country and the measures undertaken by the government to address issues challenging the growth of this vital sector especially in financing and marketing. 
He also highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. The lecture was attended by faculty, staff, students and invitees.   It must be noted that Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) had decided to celebrate the birthday of the first Indian union agriculture minister (1946) and the first president of Independent India, Bharat Ratna, Dr. Rajendra Prasad as Agricultural Education Day in India on December 3.
