
An induction training on HIV and Syphilis screening for community health officer (CHO) and auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) was conducted in Tuensang and Noklak district on September 7 and 8 respectively. The programme was organised by Nagaland state AIDS Control Society (NSACS) and sponsored by National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO).
In a press release, DMO Tuensang, Apheang informed that resource person for the training, deputy director (BSD) NSACS Dr. Nukshisangla highlighted the HIV scenario of Tuensang and Noklak district.
She also emphasised on the basics of Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission (PPTCT) and programme guidelines, factors that increase transmission of HIV from mother to a child, essential package and effectiveness of PPTCT services. North East technical manager, share India Dr. Nanglong shared the detailed process of community-based screening of HIV, community mobilisation.
Consultant lab technician, share India, Vikeviel Thapo briefed on the kits used and storage for screening. Practical session for HID and Syphilis screening were demonstrated by lab technician MICTS IDS Tuensang and ICTC CHC Noklak. The training was attended by District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Tuensang, ANMs and CHOs from different health units under Tuensang and Noklak district.
