NBSE cautions on online gaming

Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has notified for information of all the heads of registered institutions under NBSE to be aware of the “ill effects of online gaming addiction/ abuse” among students.

In a notification, NBSE said that online gaming can be accessed with the use of a phone or a tablet which it said was a common factor in online game addiction as children can easily play games anywhere and anytime affecting school and social life. “The closure of schools due to the pandemic has increased use of mobile and internet by children”, NBSE stated.

It said that playing online games led to a serious gaming addiction which was considered as a gaming disorder.  NBSE has, therefore requested the heads of institutions to share the concerns and sensitise parents and teachers about the harmful effects of online gaming.

For any untoward incidence, report could be made at national helpline https://cybercrime.gov.in/Webform/Helpline.aspx
