Vihokhu gets new market shed

A weekly market shed constructed under National Panchayat Award 2020 at Vihokhu village was inaugurated by project director, DRDA Dimapur, Kethosituo Sekhose.

Vihokhu village was conferred with two national panchayat awards Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) and Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (NDRGGSP) for its excellence in overall development of the village during 2020.

Speaking on the occasion as special guest, Kethosituo said a national award was a great achievement and that the village must not stop there but must improve while setting a standard for other villages to follow the benchmark.

He said the achievement of the village was a result of combined effort of all and also because of the good leadership in the village.

Kethosituo said that the villagers of Vihokhu must take it as a challenge to keep improving and make use of the asset purposefully.

The project director also viewed that it was imperative for villages to have a masterplan in order to allow more infrastructure developments.

Also speaking at the occasion, BDO Kuhuboto RD block, Phoishe Sema talked about how Vihokhu village was chosen from among the villages across the country as best performing village.

A major factor he stressed on was involvement of village council in the economic development activities of the village.

While proposing vote of thanks, head GB of the village, Phukato Zhimomi said the achievement of the village was possible only because of constant guidance and support of officials and staff of the department.

DPO Tsukti Jamir, executive engineer Toniho Chophy and AE Supong Pongen were other DRDA officials present at the programme.

The inaugural function was chaired by VDB secretary Vitol Awomi while VGBA pastor Charlie Chophy and NCRC pastor Kughato Awomi said prayers.
