Shamatore battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted an awareness campaign on scrub typhus at Dan, Wensui and Choklangan, Noklak district on September 19.
According to Assam Rifles report, scrub typhus is pandemic and quite rampant in border areas of Noklak district. The report stated that large numbers of villagers get infected by this disease during the monsoons leading to number of fatalities. The local community was explained in detail about the disease, its symptoms, precautions and treatment. They were also asked to approach Assam Rifles med post in case of any symptoms of the disease.
