Mishap due to pothole

Bad road can be fatal as was proven when a  woman in her early 50s died after she fell off the pillion of the scooter which her husband was riding.

In a delayed report, the victim was riding on the pillion and was on the way to Dillai for marketing with her husband. However, due to the pot holes in the particular stretch of the road, she was thrown off the scooter and was run over by a truck from behind.

The incident happened on Thursday morning near Dimapur Government College, informed DCP (Crime) and PRO Dimapur Police. PRO said the victim was rushed  to hospital but succumbed to injuries on the way. PRO said that the truck driver was taken to  custody and investigation was on.

The portion of the road where the tragic incident occurred has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time. Following the tragic incident, the potholes were filled with brick pieces on Friday.
