
A four-day orientation programme which began on Monday is underway at ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) for students admitted in different programmes in the academic session 2021-22.
In a press release, registrar (officiating) Dr. V.T. Vasagan informed that department of management studies, ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) conducted the orientation programme with Col. V.R.K. Prasad (Retd.) chancellor, ICFAI University Nagaland and ICFAI University Meghalaya as chief guest.
Meanwhile, guest of honour, deputy commissioner, Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan shared his experiences and encouraged the students to identify their passion.
Dr. Jai Singh Parihar, former Satish Dhawan distinguished professor, scientist & deputy director, space application center, ISRO, Ahmedabad and Prof. Madhu Kumar PS, dean (academics), Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore attended the programme as distinguished guests. The programme was chaired by assistant professor Vindhya Sagar, manager, procurement Chabou & Co. Nagaland, and IUN alumni Adakho Kadate shared his experience while vice chancellor ICFAI University Nagaland Dr. Arun Kumar Verma delivered the welcome address.
On the second day of the orientation programme, which was held on September 28, Dr. A.K. Verma in his welcome address emphasised on the historic development of communication system.
The guest of honour, scientist and director of North Eastern Space Applications Centre, Meghalaya Dr. K.K. Sarma stressed on scope and employment opportunities available in learning computer science, commerce and library science.
Director, scientific analysis group, DRDO ministry of defence, New Delhi, Dr. U. Jeya Santhi asked the students to open a new chapter of learning since learning at the university differed from school and college learning.
Meanwhile, chief guest of the programme, director, national institute of technology Dimapur, Dr. S. Venugopal emphasised on the importance of multidisciplinary learning and multidisciplinary skills. The programme was chaired by assistant professor, department of management studies, Vidhya Sagar, invocation by university librarian Kelel Theyo and presentation by assistant professor, department of management studies, Dr. Imtinungsang Jamir while vote of thanks was proposed by assistant professor, department of computer science, Darshana Sarma.
