All Naga Catholic Federation (ANCF) has called for Naga unity for reaching a final solution to Naga political issue.
At a consultative meeting held at Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) at Mantripukhri, Imphal on September 24 and 25 on the theme “Peace and justice”, the federation appealed for unity and urged Naga groups to talk to each other for reaching an honourable and acceptable solution based on the unique history and situation of Nagas.
A press release by ANCF convener Sulanthung Humtsoe and general secretary David Anal said the Nagas seemed to be currently separated by ideological, organisational and politico-administrative territorial divides and everyone seemed to have an overriding loyalty to one’s own ethnic and tribal communities.
ANCF affirmed that it stood firmly on the bedrock of Naga political movement and historical rights. Asserting that Nagas were one and that the only way forward was to settle differences through dialogue within the Naga family, the federation declared that the Naga struggle for self-determination was a “collective birthright”.
It stressed that it strongly believed in unity for an inclusive and honourable Naga political solution.
The federation also appealed to Government of India to be extra sincere in finding an honourable and acceptable solution to the Naga political issue, while urging Naga people to work in the best interests of Naga people.
