As decided at the general public meeting of Pangti Village held on September 25, the Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union (AFRAU) Pangti and Pangti village council resolved to allow visitors during the migration season of Amur Falcon where visitors would strictly follow COVID-19 SOPs.
In a press release, AFRAU president, P. Thungchumo Shidio stated that in the year 2019 and 2020, AFRAU and Pangti Village Council restricted visitors during the migration season, expressing resentment towards the state governments for failure to provide infrastructural development activities in Pangti Village.
It stated that since 2013, the villagers started preserving and protection Amur Falcons (zero killing) however, no development activities were initiated by the government and NGOs and that no ex gratia or incentive were given to the poor land owners till now.
However, AFRAU said that the land owners were still willing to conserve and protect biological resources if the state government provided all round basic amenities.
