Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) has expressed dismay over the depleting cellular network and internet connectivity especially in rural areas and village causing immense inconvenience to the student community.
In a letter to the manager of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Bharat Airtel Limited, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Vodafone Idea Limited, WSSU president A Kughato Achumi and general secretary, X Hinoka Chophi pointed out that since March 2020 most educational institutions have remained closed and students have been dependent on virtual classes.
In absence of physical classrooms, WSSU said both teachers and students have been facing unprecedented challenges especially with poor network connectivity.
Stating that the union has received numerous complaints from distraught parents and students on this issue, WSSU has asked telecom service providers to immediately take necessary action to resolve the problem at the earliest.
Failing to do so, WSSU said it would be compelled to take further course of action for the welfare of the student community.
