Residents of three colonies under Burma camp including power house colony, Dr Haralu and Namgalong colony repair the road at power house colony near electrical department office, here Saturday.
The road was repaired with contributions from residents as the road remained neglected for more than a decade.
Interacting with media persons, power house colony chairman Alem Aier said that the road was left unattended for more than a decade making it inconvenient for residents and commuters.
While pointing out that the road stretched up to 350 km and was situated along the highway, Alem Aier highlighted on the state of the road, which he said, posed risk to the commuters.
Sharing the grievances of the road condition, Alem said that earlier in the year 2018, the colonies wrote a letter to the responsible executive engineer PWD (R&B) Dimapur requesting for repairing important link road (by pass) passing through power house colony, Namgalong and Dr Haralu colony.
He disclosed that they were assured that the road would be repaired on the second phase, however, no action plan was carried out till date.
Alem informed that the residents were repairing the road for the second time with contributions, while still hoping that the government would intervene.
He also thanked DMC, deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, traffic personnel, power department and Ronika Miachieo (a social worker) residents of Nagamlong colony and residents of the three colonies who came forward to contribute towards the initiative.
It may be mentioned that the three colonies under Burma camp comprises of more of one thousand five hundred households.
