Colourful performances mark Day-2 of Hornbill Festival

Day-2 of Hornbill Festival at Kisama witnessed colourful folk dances, folk songs and indigenous games by cultural troupes belonging to Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Garo, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Lotha, Phom Pochury, Kachari, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Yimkhiung, Kuki and Zeliang communities.

Special guest, MLA and adviser of Arunachal Pradesh tourism Laisam Simai extended greetings from the land of rising sun (Arunachal Pradesh) to the land of festivals (Nagaland). He observed that the North-eastern States have a lot of potential and every State has a unique identity, adding that the beauty of Nagaland got reflected in Hornbill Festival.

Speaking in the second session, guest of honour and principal chief commissioner of income tax, North-eastern region (NER), Shyam Kumar delivered warm greetings on behalf of Income Tax Department NER. 

He said the hospitality and warmth of people were beyond expectations. 

He encouraged people from other States of India to come and enjoy the scenic beauty, people’s hospitality and all the great things the State has to offer.

7191 visitors: A total of 7191 visitors attended the second day of the Hornbill Festival at Kisama. According to the Tourism department, those who attended the festival on Thursday include—14 foreign tourists, 1956 domestic tourists and 5221 local tourists.
