Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Monday decided to call off proposed agitation after the state government conveyed that it has already initiated the process of activating the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB).
NSF had on September 3, 2021 served ultimatum on the government to implement NSSB within 30 days, failing which the youth and student community would take up democratic agitation. In a press release, NSF president Kegwayhun Tep and general secretary Süpuni Ng Philo said that on the expiry of the ultimatum period, the federation was prepared to take the matter to the street.
However, NSF said the state government through the principal secretary, P&AR officially wrote to the NSF on October 4, requesting the federation to reconsider the ultimatum since the government has already initiated the process of activating the NSSB.
In light of the above, NSF said its officials at an emergency meeting held at its office unanimously resolved to call off any form of democratic agitation as the government had complied with the demands of the federation in toto.
Meanwhile, NSF has expressed gratitude to the state government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio for heeding to the call of the Naga youth and students. NSF further appealed to the state government to expedite the entire process and ensure that examinations under the purview of NSSB were held within this calendar year.
