Court convicts one for molestation in Tuensang

Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Tuensang on Tuesday convicted one Penglang for molestation under US 354 (A) (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In a press release, assistant public prosecutor (APP) Tuensang, Mitchell Zhimomi, who was counsel for the state in the case, informed that on February 1, 2021, a written FIR was received from the victim stating that one person had molested her at broad daylight.

After considering the overall facts and circumstances of the case and keeping in mind the nature of the offence committed, the court sentenced the convict to six months imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 3,000.

In default of payment of fine, APP informed that the convict would undergo simple imprisonment of one month and the fine collected from the convict would be awarded to the victim as compensation (section 357 of the CrPC). 

3 convicted for stealing vehicle parts 

The court in its order dated September 29 convicted three people for commission of an offence punishable under section 379 read with section 34 of the IPC.

The convicts were involved in stealing of vehicle parts and accessories in and around Tuensang.

After making observations, the judge convicted the accused persons for nine months and directed them to pay fine.
