State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased the prices of petrol and diesel for the fourth consecutive day on Friday. According to a price notification of the OMCs, petrol was hiked by 30 paise a litre and diesel by 35 paise per litre.
After the rate revision, petrol price in Dimapur increased to Rs.102.01 per litre while diesel price soared to Rs.94.25 per litre. In the state capital, prices of petrol and diesel rose to Rs.103.01 per litre and Rs.95.06 per litre respectively.
According to IANS report, the OMCs hiked the rates as global oil surged again, with benchmark Brent crude gaining over 1 per cent to cross $83 a barrel.
Any changes in petrol and diesel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day. Prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes.
