Oting massacre: NCD, CSOs place charter of demands

The joint meeting of Naga Council Dimapur and Dimapur based civil society organisations held on December 7, following the aftermath of the Oting massacre, have put forth several demands while at the same time resolving to support the Konyak Union till all their demands were made.

According, NCD general secretary Thsapongkyu Sangtam, the house, after deliberating on the December 4 incident, resolved to write a memorandum to Nagaland Governor for immediate repeal of AFSPA, from Nagaland. 

The house also decided to write a representation to chief minister demanding– i. to include independent and eminent person(s) in the investigation of the case, ii. to expedite the investigation, iii. to repeal AFSPA from Nagaland and to remove the name/tag “Friends of the Hill People” used by the Assam Rifles state.  

The meeting was chaired by NCD president Etsungmomo Kikon while Chang Baptist Church Dimapur pastor Rev. Wongto Chingmak offered the invocation  prayer. A two-minute silent prayer was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
